Sony KV4100

Okay, so two things I am confused with on this set. I just picked it up from another member here, and it is in really nice shape, given he got it from a Salvation Army, it's not at all trashed.

I read somewhere that this is supposed to have an FM-Stereo radio, but on headphones it only does mono and it only has one speaker. Is that just misinformation and it is only mono sound entirely?

Two:

It has AV plugs on the back, but there is no switch anywhere on the set. How does it switch to the AV? Just plug in and it switches over automatically?

Are you sure it only has one speaker ?
plug rca's into the aux and see what happens

1) Probably only runs stereo through headphones, others
also did that.
2) yes probably has switched jacks. Also common on small
stuff in the olden days. Also on newer stuff.
Example VIDEO 1 may have composite & S-VHS input.
A switch in the S-VHS jack tells the set what to do.

S-Video (S for separate IIRC) was a signal cabling format, and S-VHS (S standing for Super) was a video tape format....It is amazing how many people mix them up.

The FM radio is indeed stereo. The red LED between the scan switches will light up when a stereo station is received. The earphone jack can be touchy and dirty. Move the plug in and out and use some WD 40. You will hear stereo.
