It is a great idea to use one of these! The calculation will get you very close, but there is a "second order" effect... As you drop the voltage applied to the circuit, the current drawn by the circuit will drop as well, and perhaps not in a linear fashion. Likely slightly more than the calculated resistance will be required to produce the desired voltage drop. Always nice to be able to make a slight adjustment!
