OTA, or digital cable? If OTA, are you viewing on a HDTV, or NTSC with a converter?

I'm OTA /1080 HDTV and have never experienced an aspect issue with British-sourced material on PBS. Now digital cable......the compression reduces the pixel count, and the artifacts are very noticeable, at least on Cox Cable as we have here. My number one reason fro watching sports broadcasting at home - too many friends and sports bars use cable.
