39" Affinity LCD set - an easy fix (for a change)

The other day, the thrift store gave me three non-working flat screen TVs, a 32" Emerson/Funai, a 39" Affinity, and a similar-sized Hitachi.

The Emerson would flash on for half-a-second and then shut off, which I determined to be caused by shorted LEDs. I was going to fix it, but the only source for a complete LED strip was from China, and I wasn't willing to wait six months for it to show up and then it likely would be a dud. Then, I tried to fix the existing LED strip and ended up making a mess of us, so I busted up the TV and put it in a garbage bag

I have not done much with the Hitachi, but it initially had a picture that bounced, with black horizontal lines at the top and bottom of the screen, and various vertical lines from one side to another. Now, all it has are colored fields across the screen, with the vertical lines.

That brings us to the Affinity. This is obviously a low-end set that is mostly plastic, and I don't like the fact that the boards are attached to the back cover, making it a pain to service. That one was dead and I found a shorted diode off of the secondary side of the power supply. I pulled a diode out of the Emerson that I junked, and it now works. For how long it will work, I don't know, but it has a decent picture.
