I was going to mention the ammonia...

I've seen more than a few units that used R-12. It was used in refrigerators in the early 1960's. Unfortunately, running an R-12 fridge on R-134 just doesent quite cut it. The drinks are fairly cool, but not really cold.

I've only seen R-22 in HVAC systems, and thats why I own a 30 pound jug of it. I bought the jug for my own system which is now 20 years old, but I've never even had to crack it open for any reason. It still cools perfectly.
