Hold the phone. I think I licked it. What happened was this was a case of bad soldering. The problem was that one of the wires came loose. I couldn't see it due to the electrical tape. That's why if you watch the video I posted earlier in the thread it shut on and off as I rocked the set, as the wire was touching and then untouching. Well, I guess I learned a valuable lesson.
