Swishy stick A.K.A switch was a thin green stem abt 3-4 ft long.

It could wrap around you & sting like hell.

Father was good with the belt. Knew just how to use it without

leaving a mark. I would take the belt any day.........

Yep, down here in the south they were called "Keen switches". Mama/daddy/grandma/grandpa would send you out to pick one. If you got a wimpy one, it was worse for you! I'm sure RadioTVnut knows all about them too.
