I'm following this thread as well, my 1982 System 3 25 inch console Zenith is the 9-181/9-186 combo and every once in a while, I do get that buzzing noise when I turn it on and then when I turn it off and back on, It's OK. I might have an issue with a cap or two in mine, the pic does go red every once in a great while and does it for a while like a day or two and then it is OK for several months plus there is almost a half an inch of gap with the raster at the bottom. Well, it is 31 years old so it is bound to have some issues but it is our daily watcher and the picture is still excellent. Still, I like to read here so I can learn. IIRC, the buzzing is from the tuner (as it was pointed out here) and I do have a spare tuner here so I'll keep that in mind.

We did semi-retired it in 2009 (although I did use it everyday in the computer room) when my aunt gave us a 35 inch Sony but the Sony died a few months ago. We were looking at LED TV's until Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer (along with money problems) so we are busy fighting that. So Mom instead said, "bring the Zenith back," so it is our daily watcher again until we are able to get an LED TV. Still she said that she'd rather fix the Zenith than buy new so who knows?
