Correct. The sound IF in this set has one less stage than the "deluxe." If you read between the lines of the alignment procedure, you will realize that they are telling you to set the sound trap exactly on frequency (which makes the sound carrier too weak) and then back it off a little until (hopefully) you get adequate sound without objectionable sound interference in the picture. The lack of limiting gain also means that sound volume can vary with fine tuning. Home sources generally have reduced sound carrier levels to prevent their own generation of sound/chroma beats. (Commercial transmitters had higher sound/video carrier ratios at one time).

Anyway, it's looking good, and I think the best advice is not to spend too much time trying to make this sow's ear chassis into a silk purse.
