Correct. Motorola had intentions on getting the new tube into mass production in mid 1963, but there were some problems in getting production started, so things got delayed until the end of the year. So late 1963 sets would be the oldest rectangular Motorola sets that could be found. However, those sets didn't get shipped to distributors until January, 1964.

As for Mr. Wood, unfortunately I didn't find any photos of him or his family while at the estate sale. His daughter was there at the sale and I was able to speak with her about some of his work.

The damaged slides shown were the ones that you could at least get an idea if you looked closely. Many of the others were so bad that it just looked like color swirls and absolutely nothing could be interpreted.
