Well turning my replacement diode around got me weak video.

Scoping the grid of the vertical output is showing me why the vertical is so WEIRD. The very weak 120Hz sawtooth is riding on a very strong something like 3Hz sine wave. Who ever TUD1 bought this set from didn't do a stellar job rebuilding the vertical or the whole chassis for that matter. Some of the new caps are crummy approximations, and all the caps are j-hooked in (seriously it isn't that hard to solder Zeniths above chassis terminals from under chassis if your iron has enough watts for chassis work). There's also a number of original plastic caps and lytics where only a section or 2 are changed which are "make it work as cheap as possible to sell it" type fixes IMO.
