Those Toshiba's seem to be a pretty good working machine. I'm using one right now. Never paid more than $4.00 for a VCR. Maybe a buck more for a super-clean one with the proper remote that looks like it was seldom used.
I went to an estate sale and there was a decent Toshiba on the free pile. It had the remote and instruction manual, a four head but mono audio.
The man doing the selling told me, "you looked at it and touched it, now you have to take it".
I laughed and put it in my car. It works perfect.
