= 8 vintage Corvettes swallowed by a sinkhole =

A 40-foot wide sinkhole at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky., has swallowed up eight Corvettes dating back to 1962.

The museum, based in the only town where General Motors. GM makes Corvettes, says it learned of the problem in its skydome area early Wednesday morning.

“It is with heavy hearts that we report that eight Corvettes were affected by this incident,” it said in a posting on its website.

Six of the cars were owned by the museum, while two others were on loan from GM, it said.

The six are a 1962 black Corvette, a 1984 PPG pace car, a 1992 white Corvette that was the 1 millionth produced, a 1993 ruby red 40th anniversary Corvette, a 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette and a 2009 white Corvette that was the 1.5 millionth produced.
