For radios with a phono input, the options are more open/easier to find. My favorite is the Pilotuners they were made early post-WWII, can have excellent sensitivity and fidelity, switch automatically between phono pass thru and FM with the power switch, and a lot of people connected them to their pre-war radios so even if it is not the best match you have the excuse of "it was not uncommon for sets like this still in use post war to have one of these attached."
I've started hoarding 50's-60's tube mono HiFi FM tuners for the same purpose.
