Those alphanumeric characters I brought up were the first computer-based type to use ASCII. Baudot, however, was used by Time-O-Matic in the mid-1960's for their product lines of controls for traveling and changing message signs (typed on what appeared to be a Teletype Model 33 with perforator tape).
