At 'mystery speed' there is a certain 'floaty-ness' to the suspension and feel to the steering that gives the impression of 'if I hit a fat racoon it might not stay planted on the road'. Combine that with increased stopping distance, and you can bet that extra care and maximal focus kick in as SOP when doing something like that.

I may end up replacing the suspension in the Lincoln when it warms up....On last fall's ETF run in that boat I found that with a load of TVs up in the 74-80MPH range the suspension will go into nearly undamped slow oscillation if stimulated by a rather good size bump in the road....I think it rocked around 5-8 cycles after the worst one...Disconcerting on a curve with a decent bit of traffic around all doing about the same speed.
