I went ahead and bought one. Along with one of those chinese "component testers" (tests transistors, ESR, etc) that I have wanted for a while. I figure while I'm buying chinese tech, I might as well go all-out

Nothing is more frustrating than getting an LCD TV, diagnosing it, ordering parts, fixing it, then finding the screen has a crack that you missed, or a dead pixel line or whatever. It will be awesome to have a tester that can power up the screen before I waste time fixing a dud.

Sucks too, I just tossed an older LCD TV because the parts were too expensive and I didn't even know if the panel was any good. With this tester I could have known.

I have high hopes for this tester to revolutionize my LCD repairs, lol.
