I owned a new '98 Mark VIII for 5 years. It ate ignition coils a couple of times, but no other problems I recall. Judging from replacement parts I saw listed online, air suspension bags could be another eventual failure point.
This car was when I stopped changing my own oil - too low to the ground, and I couldn't get over distrust of the air suspension even though it has a disable switch.
