Ha! I use to do minor repairs on my old snowblower in the kitchen too.....
My old one has chain drive and sheer pins that would go if I hit something....
And points that would need cleaning if it sat outside, and I use to keep it outside, so first start was no fun....

Now they live in the garage.... But my old one, our first I found in the woods.... Nice tough machine....
I once chewed up a shovel handle cleaning the shoot. It's single stage all chain drive to auger, no safety stuff, If you walk around to the front and stick yer ------- into it, you'll be missing it.....

On the plus plus side It will cut tall grass, brush, little trees, larger saplings, grind stumps, remove speed bumps, and blow snow, Ice, throw rocks too.....
