My Grandfather, Ed, was in management at Packard from 1939 until 1954 at which point he became a manager with the Post Office. The handwriting was on the wall so to speak...
His last Packard was a '54 Caribbean and he drove it until it literally fell apart in the late 60s, as he felt a Cadillac or Imperial was beneath him. Packard was truly the last of the American luxury cars.
Congrats on a wonderful purchase. That straight eight is one of the finest engines to ever come out of Detroit.
