Sears did the same thing they had a an old Stereophonic Tabletop radio from 1962 that had a built-in FM Multiplex that was I think a model 3058 or something similar to that and when I went to look up the schematic for it at the Sam's website the only thing that came up was a silvertone AM Clock radio from 1956 that apparently used the same model number so yeah, its not completely unheard of for a company to recycle a model number on a later model.

If that Silvertone was series string tube, short and wide with side firing speakers, then I believe I have 2 of them.
