I well remember that Easter 1978. I broke my ankle on the ice. I lived two miles from my chem lab and wanted to check on the vacuum equipment there to see
if anything bad had happened. So I put on my mountain climbing gear, crampons and two ice axes, and walked in, no problem. Yes, the equipment needed work,
which I did. I then started to go out ... without crampons ... to get a Coke and on the first step fell. I was worried because I had just paid good money to climb 2/3 of the way up Mt. Everest in 9 months. I really need not have worried because I was fully recovered long before then.

It took a lot longer for WAND (our ABC station at that time, now NBC) to get back to full power.
