Radio dials with city names instead of freqs

I have a Sonora radio (from France I think, circa 1952) with a dial calibrated with city names. 3 bands "O.C.", "G.O." and "P.O." As per the "Plan de Copenhague", which I would guess was an European frequency allocation agreement amoung all the European countries' FCCs. Go to http://www.geocities.com/wa2ise/radios/forgnr.htm to see the entire Sonora radio this dial is from and also a similar radio from Australia. They must never have changed station callsigns in Australia when that radio was made. Like the Packard Bell sets that were "stationized" for the west coast of the USA.
