Could be drift or if any little kids were around they may be to blame.
Even adults would mess them up. We used to get tons of them in
back in the good times. Since we ran up to 3 weeks behind if I
thought that was it I would quickly adj it & send it home. Very few
came back. All done for free.

Thanks! I just took this tv back apart and took it into the shop. I did exactly what you said (plus adjusted the vertical height) and it actually looks like it is now working with a Bar and Dot generator. It still needs a different input tested with it and it really needs the controls cleaned, but after that it will hopefully make a nice little tv.

The only thing i don't like is how this tv does not have a focus control. That may or may not be an issue, but that will be determined later.

Few newer B&W TV's had a focus control. Sometimes there is
a jumper of sorts to give a few different voltages to the F grid.
But I have never seen one that makes a difference !
