Suggestion: Home Video Section

Please rename "Magnetic Media/Tape" to "Home Video", so we can discuss LD, CED, VCD, & DVD (etcetera) related topics in an organized fashion.

I'm not sure if that is a good rename of that section. There are also audio tape related posts there and changing it to video would leave audio tape threads no obvious home.... 'video and or audio playback/recording formats' might be a better choice. It should be open to everything from magnetic wire audio recorders to DVD/bluray IMHO....Unless others would rather see it split into audio and video sections (I don't think there is enough traffic to merit such a split). Also it is already being used for all audio and or video formats (albeit with some confusion as to whether it is okay to post there by some who do).
Also I read most posts by hitting the new post's button rather than visiting any specific section and browsing (since only one or two sections don't hold any interest to me) so I'm not sure where the threads dedicated to new video tape, and disc acquisitions are located, but think they should all be moved to the under-used 'Movies, Shows & programs' section, so as to not distract sections dedicated to the technical aspects, and repair of the formats with unrelated babble on how member X just got a copy of 'Young Frankenstein', or how member Y's new ABBA concert LaserDisc rocks....

The sub heading of that forum is
"Discussions of VTR, VCR, VHS, and Beta usage and production"

That pretty much includes home video but also includes professional video tape recorders etc.

There really isn't enough interest in LD and CED to create a separate forum but they can be discussed in the Magnetic Media forum as well, or general off topic.

Actually, Laser Disc probably gets discussed more on Audiokarma than it does here.

That's the problem: the title and subheader are too specific and alienate the other forms of video media. Plus, as Electronic M pointed out, others are using it to post about audio tape, so perhaps it should be retitled along the lines of "Video & Audio Media".

All of the above topics are ok to discuss within the proposed forum. I am sure we could tweak the title if need be.

Thanks

"Home Video" is a misnomer because that lends itself more towards camcording, home movies, and the like.

Hm.....

Or in the Off Topic section. Or even in Recorded video for all I care . Forum wise, I just don't wanna pull traffic from our sister site

I would personally LOVE to see that. It'd give me a good excuse to revisit my 8mm projector and get into collecting film.....something I've always wanted to do!

If you click on my YouTube link in my Sig I have some of my found films posted there.
I wish I had a way to transfer them better.
