Cute 1947 Remler "Scotty Convertible"
This is pure eye-candy. It's a mini radio/phono geared towards younger people at the time. The case is several panels of ivory Plaskon, black bakelite, and brown bakelite for the phono table. How these survived is nothing short of a miracle. They're quite delicate. They came in solid ivory Plaskon, solid black bakelite, and this two-tone model, which, to me, is the most impressive. These were made in San Francisco and sold in western states.

Thanks. Yes. You switch it on top and then slide the tone arm up and back and the little direct drive platter quietly spins. Not a bad sounding set for basically a typically AA5. I looked for one of these for many years. They rarely come up for sale. I had to have this one shipped from N. CA, near where it was made.

Cute.
The convertible name (after automotive connotations left my mind) made me wonder if it is like my Westinghouse table radio phono where the plastic radio undocks from the wooden phono into its own little stand alone AA5. There were a lot of cute little radio phono table sets back in the day.
