13" Sony Issue. Too much color
Zeno, was hoping you could chime in on this issue.
I've got a Sony KV-1354 (1984) set. The picture is fantastic except for one issue I've never come across. Does this set have an "auto color" switch hidden somewhere? Here's the issue. You can't turn off the color. You can adjust the color control (this set still uses controls) and even all the way "off", the color level is too high. So basically you can adjust the control from too much color, to WAY too much color. Other than that, the picture is so sharp it makes your eyes hurt. lol |

Can you adjust the fine tune so the color is normal?

I tried to "de-tune" it a bit, but no luck. Attached is a picture with the color all the way down.
This back-story on this set is: I wanted an older, small Sony with a good tube for awhile. Found this one at an estate sale, brought it home, and it lasted all of one hour before the flyback went out. (it managed to take out the regulator IC and the HOT in the process) Had all of that replaced, but now trying to figure out this issue. |

See if its got a little pot named ACC ( automatic color control ).
Try that. Also check the trace under the CL control, you may have banged it working on it. By this vintage sets just used a DC voltage to the jungle IC to vary things so not much to it. 73 Zeno |

I looked and it does not.
What an odd problem. I wouldn't even care if the color didn't go all the way off, but even all the way down, it's too high. I'll check the trace. Also.. faulty control maybe? It has way too much in it for what it's worth to be stuck getting more parts. (I still have to pay for the ones I got) |

Is it a dual control where you need to pull it out or push it in to change from automatic to manual?

Don't worry Jamie, I will get it straightened out. Maybe when I replaced the flyback I messed something up, a level control or broke the low end of the color control loose when I had the chassis pulled back. Set looked nice and bright so I never really paid close enough attention to the color level. Luckily its a small set, easy to bring back over to me. Even if the control is bad, I'm not worried about the cost. Might be hard to find one though.
