Yes, when the AM band is selected, the clear plastic lens is lighted to show the gold AM numbers. Swith to FM, and the light comes on behind the red FM numbers.

Wow Charlie, that GE #226 is the first radio my parents gave me as a little squirt. It really surprised me to see one here.
A year and a half or abouts somebody posted the Magnavox console my parents had at the time too. Very cool!
Needless to say if ya ever want to sell it.
