Pioneer PD-M600 6 disc changer disc not spinning
Goes through all 6 discs without spinning. This uses the magazine. Is the no spin a laser issue or motor?

It could be either, or neither. When the disc is loaded the first thing (usually) it does is try to focus the beam. If it can't focus on the disc it will not spin up. Could be laser, dirty lens, or plater height. The first thing I would do is clean the lens with alcohol and a good swab. I never use a cleaning disc. If that doesn't help you can check the distance of the platter to the lens. Usually about 2mm. To close or to far away and the laser will not focus. Next you would have to check the spindle motor. They do go bad. Beyond that a scope would be used to look at the laser output. Try the simple things first, then the motor. Remember it could be a motor driver IC as well.

If that is a mid to late 80's 6 disc cartridge unit, check to see if the lens is still the pickup. Both of mine died of lens loss....It's a shame, they were nice sounding units.
