I HAVE seen the safety caps on Maggie SS sets--and have seen them FAIL too. But so far---ONLY in the "short mode" (this was OVER 25 years ago or MORE). When they did they overloaded the PS and shut down the set. IIRC...this was on a T908 maybe a T-915 set. NOT a T995.

I had two 19" T991 IIRC one had a gassed CRT & BIG arcing. The
other we put in a vert, reg & 2 other boards. Also did the usual
soldering. Ran fine 2 days then started sending lightning bolts.
Both were only a few yrs old so gave them back & told them to
call Maggy. Most others 4 lead caps I met shorted & a few opened
the way they were supposed to.

Magnavox still bought the safety caps from American Radionic, even the replacements. The new issue were either blue or gray plastic tape coating.
They actually were an oil cap.

To all ya'll. Update on the tv.

Thanks for all your help! Without you guys I wouldn't have probably made it work again. I ended up ordering a modern 300m ohm resistor that and placing it in a coke bottle to isolate it. Man those things are chatty when I was doing the work testing the tv...Trying to see if it would work with out the resistor in the circuit. Which oddly it didn't work with it out. Somewhere it's a necessity. The screen stay'd dark and wouldn't light up unless I had it going to ground.

And yes, I matched all the ratings and specs as close as I could haha. I went over on the voltage rating but that shouldn't cause any problems.

I can see why they had the old one in that casing and ceramic core(They generate a HUGE amount of static). But again, all of you thank you very much! I can't put to words how much I appreciate the help. Included are a couple pics of the quality of the tv and my "Shoddy" work. I am gonna velcro the bottle down so it doesn't walk around but that's where I sit with it right now.
