'56 Rca CtC 5 Wescott Crt Cap
Having an issue with the cap going to the end of the 21AXP crt. Chassis has been recapped and Nick got it up and running. When trying to do a convergence I noticed I wasn't getting the color blue. I used emory cloth to gently clean the crt pins and the pins from the other end of the crt wire assembly that plugs into the chassis. Blue was back. Tried to continue convergence and screen slowly faded to black. I wiggled the cap going to the crt and the crt came back to life. I had a really blue screen then as I slowly moved the crt cap I got a green screen and then a red screen. Can't do a convergence until I figure this out. Advice appreciated.

On old CRT's its common to find cold solder joints in the socket
( CRT end ), especially the filaments. Check that first. BTW when working on any old set with that type base carefully & slowly work at it with a thin screwdriver. Go in a circle while keeping the CRT end from moving. If you just grab & pull you can rip the socket right off & maybe break off a wire right at the glass. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |
