roughly on topic: vintage Baltimore radio photos
Took our daughter back to college in DC this week. While in the neighborhood, I visited my father in Baltimore. He showed me a couple of old photos from his radio days as a broadcast engineer at WITH (AM and later also FM) in Baltimore. I thought some here might be intrigued at least by the hardware in the photos, if not the subject matter :-)
This photo shows then mayor of Baltimore, Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr. (holding the mike) after presenting 'the key to the city' to WITH DJ Jack Gale. My father, running the controls of an Ampex 600, and another WITH radio personality (I believe his name is Les Alexander) look on. The year was probably 1957. Probably the most interesting facet of the photo for most of us is that nice ol' Ampex R to R! :-)

one more
The Old Man at the Gates console with the then-Episcopal Bishop of Baltimore (I believe his name was Bishop Powell). According to my father, the TT in the photo was one of two RCA's (?), equipped with Gray arms, in this small studio at WITH-AM. This photo likely dates from about the same era as the first.
