1985 rca fkr468wr
Hi Folks!
I just got this XL100. It says remote control on the front, but none of my RCA remotes will work with it. Anyone know what the correct remote looks like? Can a universal be programmed for it? |

The original remote for this is the RCA remote with the full keypad, recall button, and mute. It has a silverish-white background behind the buttons and a black back. IR, not ultrasonic of course.
Chances are that any universal can work with it. I have an 83 FJR- colortrak on a universal remote. |

Thank I shall try a universal remote. Would still love a photo of the original remote.

Would it be this one by chance?
This also has VCR controls on it. |

A much simpler RCA TV/VCR remote from about that era is the CRK50E. I have a beat-up one that worked on a 1991 RCA-built console TV. There are a couple on fleabay right now. I think the IR codes changed after '82 or so, whenever the rounded-edge 6-button jobs were discontinued. The remote I have wouldn't work the '82 ColorTrak I had.

The RCA remotes that I have work all my 1989 and newer sets. They do nothing for my newly acquired 1985 XL100 though.

A universal remote with the same code worked a console identical to the '91 (date sticker missing on that one) and a 1987 XL-100. The VCR I believe it was supplied with is no newer than 1986 as far as I know. I guess the IR code wasn't changed for all sets at once. You might need one of those 6-button jobs, CRK33H.
