McMurdo Silver Masterpiece IV

Hello,

First time posting on the radio side... Been lurking and posting on the TV threads. I have a friend who has a very rough Mc Murdo Silver Masterpiece 4 that he wants restored. It's very VERY VERY rough, sadly. Does anybody else have one of these that has been restored? I am trying to decide whether to advise him to have me tear it all off the chassis and rechrome it, or leave it alone/original. Only major hack is that somebody put an eye tube in it. Has also had other mods. I rechromed a Scott once, and that was a MONTHS AND MONTHS of evenings project! This one looks about the same as a smaller Scott. Both radio and power-amp chasses need to be chromed BADLY.

I am hesitating not only because I hate to think of that much work, but also in some cases I think the radio is worth more with rust but all original. Not sure here.

Thanks in advance for any opinions...

Charles
