Toshiba W-602 issues

Picked up another VCR. This thing works like a champ, outputting a beautiful picture. I haven't even cleaned the heads yet. I know these were being built in 2000 and 2001, but this doesn't have a build date on it.

Unfortunately it displays some writing on the tv screen, I've been unable to get rid of it. I just ordered a remote for it on Ebay, so hopefully that will help correct this issue.

Got my controller in but still can't clear the display. I can change it from a timer to some lines but...

Where do I go from here?

Edit- it seems that the "display" button was stuck, now its working. The VCR now works awesome.

Hey there,

I have a fleet of W-522s here. They were all NIB from a school. Nothing too exciting but, some of these are VHS-hq with whiteclip extension. Very good picture quality.
