they said there kid used a spray bottle to clean it and from the picture it has lines on the screen and a big red line on the right side of it could this be reparable? maybe a bad board or something Last edited by jmm83; 09-01-2020 at 04:05 PM. Reason: adding photo |

Most of the screen connections are ribbon cables along the bottom. I've seen this happen from spray bottles and cats! Never been able to clean/repair the corroded connections.

Stick a fork in it.
The address boards are bonded to the internal glass with flexible ribbons. Once the liquid gets inside it eats up the conductive glue and opens some connections and shorts others. The only way to fix this is to replace the display, which is either not available or will cost 50% more than it would cost to replace the TV. In the trade, we call this "Windex Syndrome", and it's almost as common as Wii Syndrome (where kids playing Wii throw the controller at the screen because they didn't use the lanyard to keep the controller from flying away). It's worth $25 for the boards to a repair shop, but I'm sure the owner already had it checked out and was told it was junk. John |

I just recently trash picked a TV just like this (the E601i-A3), and mine is working perfectly yet (and yes I did use a spray bottle to clean mine up because it was covered in cat hair and dirt, but I was absolutely careful with how I sprayed the the TV, and wiped it down).
