Moving an tv's IR sensor

So i need to move the IR sensor, but know nothing about them. It has 3 wires coming from it. Can i use something like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Remote-Contr...item3368e31b8f

Most of those IR receiver modules are pretty self-contained. 5V power and ground on 2 pins, and a TTL logic level output pin.Moving the existing one on extension wires shouldn't be too big an issue, but you may want to use twisted or shielded wiring to avoid noise pickup.

Thanks for the input. I suppose i can JUST add some wires to it and lengthen it. I will look up shielded wiring, since this will be about an 18" extension.

Im bored and dropping this BPC tv into an old gutted RCA tv that i picked up off craigslist. Im not changing or cutting up the RCA, so if i ever come across a chassis, it can be reversed.

I have to get around to doing the exact same thing, but oddly enough, the BPC that's in my temporary conversion is starting to crap out....picture tube has too much green, and I can't balance it out. It gets better about a half hour after it's been run, but it's a BPC, so I'll just get another
