I do enjoy This Old House on PBS and Youtube.Once in the while I do catch
Antiques Roadshow.

Now most of those ex indie stations if they cant find a new home channel will get piggybacked with mainstream stations or go off the air with the new upcoming DTV auction.

My childhood Saturdays were spent the same way, and I still enjoy Hometime and This Old House.

Your use of the word "machinery" on the cooking shows reminded me of how I sometimes refer to kitchen gadgets & small appliances as "hand tools" & "power tools" to my wife, just so that she'll give me the eye-roll.
