My First Electric Phono Resto

It's a Columbia 360, the Bose Wave radio of its time- first hatbox model of many to follow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFKl...ature=youtu.be

Not bad, but unless the tracking force is VERY low I'd refrain form playing any desirable records in good shape on it...

Well, yeah- few players are safe in that way before the 60s at least. My crank machines measure tracking pressure in ounces though, so.....

Bear in mind that they used MONO cartridges which suspensions only move laterally and not vertically. That alone would destroy STEREO records.
If you intend it to be a player....I would look into installing a compatible stereo cartridge and jumpering the two channels together.

Hagstar,
Watched your video, sounds good . I just recapped and repaired a Columbia 360 , chassis 424 in October. Mine is the hot chassis type, later production. It uses 2-50L6's, 1-12ax7 and a 6C4. I had motor speed issues that I corrected by re-sleeving the motor mount bushings. Does your model use the dual rectangular electrostatic speakers ? The ones in mine are blown, but the phonograph still sounds good. I try to only play old Hi-Fi mono 45's and 33's only for the same reason Celt mentioned.

Thanks everyone- I forgot about that detail and certainly have some mildly beat mono records. This one is the earliest one with all tube chassis and just two 6" speakers which sound amazing considering.
