TOTL HD-DVD player?

Good morning

I recently found a working Toshiba HD-A20 at a local thrift store and apparently it's an upgrade from the HD-D2 that I've had for years, having a 1080p output not 1080i.

This got me thinking and it appears that the actual TOTL was the HD-A35. Correct? Would there be any noticeable benefit in tracking one down or should I keep the A20 and be happy? It appears that values for these are not that great and if I were going to want to get one deck to keep forever now might be the time to do it.

Yes, I am an obsolete format nerd; if you look at my post history I just recently resuscitated an old S-VHS deck that I found because I actually think the ability to play anything is cool. Also just picked up a Q8 (that's a quadraphonic 8-track) deck from being repaired as it had electronic issues that were above my skill level to fix myself.

I still think the Toshiba HD-XA2 was the best HD DVD player, along with its Onkyo and Integra(?, fancier Onkyo sub-brand) equivalents/clones. The A3/A30?/A35 were third-generation players that may have booted and/or started playing faster than the A2/D2/A20/XA2 second generation, but there was never an XA3 built.

Obsolete formats can be very cool. I just plain never get rid of any of my older-technology equipment, so I have plenty of Beta/ED Beta tapes and Laser Discs (and some VHS/Super VHS tapes) as well as HD DVDs.

I've got an A3 and like it, but I haven't owned or seen the older models in action to compare.
