NIB Zenith Royal F51 Solid State FM/AM/Weather
Picked this up today at the flea market I sell at. The guy was selling it as an "unopened radio" and I told him the box had some water damage and I would only buy it if we opened the box and tested it.
The radio was somewhat sealed in plastic but there was an opening in the bottom where they taped it closed. We got it out and the manuals were stuck together and a little moldy. We pulled the radio out and it is in pristine condition. Plugged it in and turned it on and it sounds AMAZING! So glad I was the first one not to pass this up because of the water damage and high price. He was asking $30 and after opening it and testing it, he accepted $20 which may still be high but I love this thing. The coolest thing about this radio is how the dial face scrolls past the tuning line. Here are some pics: |

Nice score, JW. The later Zenith portables are often underrated/overlooked, IMO.

Nice acquisition. Hardly ever see a 70's Zenith discussed.

I usually buy a Zenith radio at the thrifts, if the price is right. They seem to be about the same quality as the name brand imports, Panasonic and Sony.
