Silvertone 9226 multiband portable

Does anyone have a silvertone model 9226? Its a leather cased multiband portable from 1960. The Radio was a unique design in which the tuner and controls were all on top, kind of like a nordmende globetrotter but there was a top on the leather case that would cover it. The leather case was part of the radio like many were from that time period. I've been been looking for one of these radios since 1998 when I joined ebay and I have NEVER been able to find one! This radio is one of the reasons I joined ebay way back then in hopes of finding one as I always thought they looked neat. Does anyone have one of these? The best you can find on ebay now is a sams for one, which atleast shows a picture of it if you're interested.

Neat - never seen one. I think 528 was the code for Warrick. I like the mid-50's to early 60's Silvertone sets, especially the Arvin built ones. Somewhere online there used to be scans of some old Sears catalogs - if they're still around it could give you a little more info on the set.

Funny you should mention this - I had one of these before my divorce. Hadn't thought about it since 2005 or earlier, can't remember if I did something with it, or if the ex-wife dumpstered it along with my 5TP4. Now, I'm gonna be up for six years trying to find it!

I have pix of one of these...hang on a minute.

Would love to see the insides. I've been looking for nearly 20 years for this one.

I suspect they were made by Arvin.

Wow, that thing is neat! I never actually saw a real picture of one before other than the photofact. It looks like its quite a large radio. I like the perforated grille on the side for the speaker. They must be one of the rarest multi band portables as Ive looked and looked for one of these and ebay never helped me. Thanks for the pics.
