I'm believing now that this is the early version of the 16, a 1934 model as opposed to the Model 16 of 1935. Those rosette knobs are a dead giveaway. Couldn't find my Philco book, but that HAS to be it.
You'll do quite well with that one

Philco TV Corp.?
Grumpy,
Nice score! I hope you plan to keep it. Tim, If it is 1934, how can you explain Philco calling themselves a "Radio and Television Corporation" as seen on one of the decals??? Was Philco involved in mechanical TV? I shud know this. Rob |

Not that I'm aware of, but if you remember we happened to stumble on something where Philco was underwriting some of Farnsworth's work early on. I believe there might have been one Philco prewar, but don't quote me on that.

My guide says 1933 Philco, broadcast, shortwave, with four knobs. Nice radio! I'd keep it.

Thanks for the info guys. As much as I like this Radio theres no room in my tiny house for it. Im still trying to decide if I want to deal with Ebay for selling this one. I would like to find out it an estimate of its worth before sellingit tho.

easy come easy go
Grumpy,
If space is a problem I'm sure you could find someone to store it for you for no charge. I'd volunteer but have no room myself with all my vintage TV's and now trying to find display room for a new line of custom designed loudspeakers. Why not see if anyone else here at AK would be interested in storing it for you. I'm serious! You should not sell this valuable antique. Whatever $$$$ you get for it will be all gone in a month and then what will you have? Rob |

I have considered keeping the philco for myself, unfortunately it took a good chunk of my audio gear budget to purchase it. Keeping it is not completely out of the question but its not looking good. I already tried to get Kam to take the Philco that way I know its would go to some one who would appreciate it allot more then me. Grumpy |

Grump,
I happen to know that Kam hasn't got the room for it either! Good luck whatever you do. Rob |

My old Bunis guide says that Philco would go for around $100-$125, but again it's an old guide.
Hope this helps. md |
