new flyback

well guys i am sorry for all the crazy questions about this 66 motorola color so hopefully all will be fixed because i got a new thordarson flyback for it and i am confident that it will fix all the crazy things that were going on. i had given the wrong number to moyers and since i took the old fly out i then seen the number was different so i called and they had it. moyers is amazing and i was surprised he had one for such a set.

If each phosphor dot calls your name like ctc17 seems to be implying then you either need to check in to a mental clinic, get a new CRT, or have your TV exorcised.

I hope that part solves all your problems with that set. I'd hate to see that set go to the scrap pile, because of an unobtainable part. I'm glad Thordarson made a replacement. Mine was a fine performing, well built set.

We have been trying to tell you that sense that Silvertone set you were working on. Flybacks fail in really only 2 ways, smoke and fire and or meltdown of the horizontal output tube.

For what you spent on that flyback you coulc have picked up a few pieces of test equipment. If you are going to work on color you need test equipment. Start with a new high voltage probe, I bet the one you have is lying to you.

alot of people think my hv tester is not right but with the silvertone this meter did get up to 30 kv and this set clearly has low hv, meter lying to me or not its low and something somewhere it seems the return path may be shorted or blocked, who knows because i dont, lol, lol. the new fly was only 48.00 and im sure the old one was weakend possibly in some way so the new one is in and ready to go after i find whats holding back or loading down. would the convergence board have anything to do with hv because i didnt check anything in that area.

well still no luck with this motorola. i checked the green and blue drives voltage which is 415 volts and the sams shows a scope coming in at 100 volts and and it also shows 300 volts at the crt, but 415 seems high from what i am seeing in the sams. there are dropping resistors, where would they be, as i am so burned out with this set now but i dont want to give up. i eliminated the convergence and checked the hv but no change. HELP............

Unplug the socket off the back of the crt and see if your high voltage goes to where you think it should on your meter. If it does, good chance the crt is being overdriven.

You should be able to adjust those drive voltages with the drive adjustments.

i did all those tests that should raise the hv including the crt plug, 6bk4 cap, focus rec, and no more hv.i have checked resistances in coils for shorts, checked voltages on the 6bk4, b+ , resistors around the horiz oscillator tube, voltages at the hot,all are very close, boost voltage ok. also checked resistances in the yoke which were right on but dont know if it makes a difference once the yoke is in circuit with the voltages that travel in it if there is a problem with the yoke. when i first got this set the edge of the yoke would sizzle alitte like static or maybe a short so i had taken it off to find carbon track on the other side so it went from the vert coil to the horiz coil. i cleaned the greasy stuff and it didnt arc again, so who knows if the yoke ohms could be good and still have a bad yoke, in circuit.
