yep you probably have a 21fj in there.
if you want it to look more original you can delaminate it and put the safety glass in.

Thought I'd just update this thread a little... "Betty" is now nestled in a local repair shop, whose owner tells me that the CRT is a goner...
The original CRT was subbed with a 21FJ, so the trick will be to locate one of these, and then get it installed. He's also checking over the rest of the chassis, to see if the caps are holding up alright. So that's where things stand... any help in locating a good 21FJ (or, of course, a 21AXP22A-- fat chance!!) at a reasonable price would be much appreciated. I'm determined that this set shall live again!! -Kevin |

Putting a face on Betty
Kevin,
Thanks for the update. It's always interesting to follow the progress of a restoration. Don't give up on the pix tube. They're getting a bit scarce, but a 21AXP22A could show up on e-bay or almost anywhere. Well established TV repair shops still in business or boarded up can hide many treasures. Find the owner or landlord and see what's in the back room or basement. Put an ad in the local paper and specify your wants. Although you'll get a lot of false leads you may luck out. The 21CYP22 will also work nicely. Keep searching. Thanks, guys... don't worry-- I wouldn't dare give up on the old girl!!
We'll just keep our eyes open... (I just wish I was skilled enough to do the servicing myself-- ah well, maybe in time...) More to follow, I'm sure! -Kevin |
