Thanks for the info. I'd put that figure at more like 500. Way more than 50 just from me

I'm curious, why the mid August cutoff ? I'm a web developer by profession and I don't see why you couldn't have copied over all the content or at least disabled posting during the transition period.

I'm going to patch up a couple of my threads from the archive, but unfortunately I can't include the thoughtful, insightful, and informative comments made by other members.

Here's the simple answer to your question.

Rule number 1: The Boss is right.

Rule number 2: In case the Boss is wrong, apply Rule number 1.

Some people decided this splitup was good, they had the power
to implement it, therefore it was implemented.

Curiously enough if you go to read your private messages after going to videokarma.org anything after aug 15th is gone. But if you go to private messages from audiokarma.org they're all there.

I just discovered that as well. All the posts to vintage TV and Radio forums as of last night are still there too. I just copied over a bunch of my posts.

I tried to do that but failed. How did you get to them?

I've been thinking for awhile that such a split would be a good idea, but I didn't want to jump in and say anything. I'm really looking forward to a more open classifieds system since nobody seemed to be using what we had.

I don't like losing posts, not one bit, but I've seen this happen here and on other sites and after some time we will all forget about it. I look for good things to come from this. Thanks to those who made it happen!

So your saying we lost 500 posts in 4 weeks time ? That would mean we lost 3 % of all posts in the TV forums.

It took that long because I had to delete over 2.4 million audio posts from the data base. Sorry if thats not quick enough for you but I run several sites and that was with me working on it night and day ignoring the other 5 sites I should have been working on.

Look I don't mean to sound condescending but you are way over stating how many posts were lost.

No attachments

The attachments on existing threads aren't showing up.

I cannot upload new attachments. I get an "Upload xxx file failed." Something they can fix I hope.

Oh its far from that. Its just a lack of manpower. If only I could figure out how to be in several places at the same time

Hi grumpy,

Let's make peace, right? Yesterday I was a member of one wonderful set of
forums, with lots of virtual friends, tonight I get two sets for the same money
(that is for free!). I will remain an enthusiastic member of both, and my thanks
to all the volunteers that do their best to keep things going. Good night.

Yes, that's what I'm saying.

I'm including the vintage radio forums too. I personally made way over 50 posts between those two forums in that period - I know because I've been spending several hours copying them over and they are plenty of other guys posting too. Between the vintage TV and radio forums there must be at least 10 posts / day.

Anyway, why not suspend posting during the transition?

If you ever need help in the future, drop me a line. I'd love to help out. This is what I do for a living too.

Bob

I had saved bookmarks to them. e.g. this is my old 7-VT2 thread: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=228145

I'm not sure how to get to other threads though. The main vintage TV and radio forum pages are blank.

Maybe you can dig up links from your browser history?

If you remember the title (or some words) from your thread, you can google search for it, and click on the link and it will still work. That is how I found the thread on the metal cabinet 50s GE sets I was working on: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=240074
and my thread asking about remote controls in radios: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...35#post2984235

This was a surprise to me, but despite the loss of a few threads, I think having a separate tv board was a great idea, and I like having the tv classifieds back the way they used to be.

Cool, thanks!

Surprising how well Google has indexed the site.

BTW - I don't mean to come off sounding like an ungrateful jerk.
I really do like to new split as well.
I'm definitely looking forward to using the classifieds.
