Help with a Sony TV model # ID?

Good evening folks!
It's been awhile since i posted here and hope everyone is doing well. I need your help in recognizing a 19" Sony TV. I responded to the ad only to get a response of " what difference does it make,it works!" Does anybody here think they can recognize it by just the picture alone and is it worth the $50?

https://raleigh.craigslist.org/ele/d...634156659.html

Also saw this Zenith for sale, but it's way out my price range and it's way to big for me to move around! Though id post it here for prosperity.

Thanks guys!

That Sony is worth them paying you $10 to take it so they don't have to pay $30 to dispose of it. Only the early trinitron/chromatrons of the first few years and the sub 10" portables have value.

That Zenith is nice, but also seems a bit overpriced...Probably a $50-$150 set unless a decorator with more dollars than sense competes with you to buy it.

Both look nice and overpriced. Maybe $20 for the Sony and $50 for the Zenith...on a very good day.

Sony is apx 1980. Not a bad set to deal with. Value is $0 IMHO
I think its a 19" set. If model starts KV19## its a 19" KV21## its
a 21" etc. If you like it pay abt $20 max.

The Zenith is called a "Panorama". Its designed for a corner but
you can use it against a wall. They sold quite well, more than any
other ultra modern Zenith. Its either a late System 3 (9-160)
or an early Advanced System 3 (9-214). Usually still running
fine. May bring up to $100 if perfect.
If you get the Zenith bring gloves. The bottom will dig into your
hands & it will want to twist due to weight distribution. It does
have casters so roll it most the way.

Hard to tell from the picture if it's a 19" or a 21" size. My guess about 1981 or 1982 model year. It's a remote and probably has lumisponder and econoquick for fast warm up of CRT with no holding voltage to cathodes while powered off.

Thank guy's, i really appreciate the feed back!
In terms of performance, how does the Sony rate?
I would like to use an analog set for the master bedroom. I'm currently using a LG 32" LCD and it gave me quite a bit of a scare the other night when the power went out twice
and after the last one,the standby led woudn't come back on until i pulled the plug and put it back in! Do you think it's a sign of things to come or it just had a glitch and had to reset it self?

Sony trinitrons, with the exception of a few models that would blow a bunch of components when hor output transistor/scr would short out. KV-1920 and KV-17## models in 1977. By the early 1980's Sony had such a reliable tv with a sharp bright picture that were hard to beat in picture quality and reliability. The downside to Sony was the cathodes were quite delicate and couldn't be rejuvenated very well or at all. Picture tube had a shorter life span than set that had delta type gun structure and shadow mask. But in there heyday they were the set people wanted to buy. Yes, they were expensive. Anyway, all that to say this, if the picture quality is still pretty decent and tracks well on a black and white setting from low brightness to highlights I would say go for it. $50 is probably a stretch maybe $10- $25. That was a decent year. I think their overall quality started to slip away about 1985 or 1987.

Its an odd ball as it has the good tuners but seems not to have an
auto color button.
Probably not part of the regular line but a "drop in" that mostly
went to the big stores. The gold is not original.

Your LG probably had microprocessor lock-up. Caused by surges, static
or messing with the keys randomly. Quite common. All it takes is one
gate out of thousands to get in the wrong state. Best to plug all
the electronics into one QUALITY outlet strip. Then if you have
thunder storms or high winds dont trust it !!! UNPLUG the whole thing.
Due so when on vacation too.

Well,i got a hold of the guy with the Sony again and offered him $20 for it and the the lowest he would go was $45! I told him good luck with it!
My LG is running fine right now (I have it hooked up to my trusty Monster power conditioner ) Hopefully it was just something random and not a trend.
Who knows, maybe this guy will come to his senses and take me up on my offer, but i'm not banking on it.
I still have that Hitachi CT-1909 lurking around here somewhere, maybe i should take some time out and cobble up a caps list for it and see where it takes me. Also need to find a remote for it as well but probably next to impossible to find.

Once again guy's, thanks for all the help!

I saw one of those at an estate sale with a free sign on it. I told the man that I would take it but you have to give me a hand bringing it up and putting it in my car. Next thing I hear is "What car is yours". He carried it out himself.
That's how glad he was to get rid of it.
