Live Webcast of Early Television Convention

We will be doing a live webcast from the 2017 Early Television Convention this weekend. Coverage to include the live auction (Saturday, 9AM) and the seminar presentations (Saturday, 12:30-4:00 PM EDT.)

We may also attempt to do a 'fly on the wall' live broadcast of the CRT rebuilding process on Friday afternoon 1-5PM) and if time permits, the restoration workshop at 4:30 PM EDT on Saturday and the Annual Meeting at 10 AM EDT on Sunday. The webcast will be available on the Early Television Museum's website www.earlytelevision.org and on UStream at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/xak8sDv34b5

Check the Early Television Museum's website for details. Full schedule at http://earlytelevision.org/2017_convention.html

Awesome! I plan to watch some, great idea for us poor sods who can't go. A couple of questions:

I assume that the times listed are EDT? I had to go find the address to figure out the time zone.

Your post says 4:30PM for the CRT rebuilding webcast and the web site says 1-5PM. Is the webcast from 4:30 to 5PM?

Thanks, looking forward to it.

This is the first ETF that I will not be there. I'll have to setup my computer video out to go to my DVR for recording the auction at 6:00 AM my time.

Got up at 5:30am here in L.A. to view streaming auction broadcast. Usual rocky start. Settled dow and had good video & sound. 9:30 am PDT the presentations start from the new venue. Good job Dave Sica & his tech crew and the Auction coordination crew.

I watched it too. For some reason, I couldn't get any audio on my phone, and had to listen with somebody else's.

Drat! The universe decided I wasn't allowed to watch the webcast. How did the CRT rebuild stuff go? I'd love to hear a report on that.

Some of the webcasts are still online. I don't see the auction, however.

The CRT rebuild stuff did not go well.

Cliff Benham got both NTSC to spinning disk color convertors working
well enough to show passable color but terrible flicker, not in the
league of the real CBS spinning wheels.

All the kings horses anad all the king's men did not get the CT-100 working
really correctly, the overall gain and color was weak but at least the color
was returned from the dead and exactly the correct hue.

Cliff said something about the pulley size on the one, and a bearing on another, as I recall.

I was shocked to see that the CT-100 was running on original electrolytics and still had some wax filter caps in there

I would think that a set like that would be too valuable to risk operating like that, and IMO should have that stuff changed out. The set lost color due to a dead heater in a tube.
