ECG replacement guide has the wrong part number?

Hi All, today i was working on my 1959 admiral 20G6 chassis B&W set. and the problem was looking like the horizontal sync discriminator diode pack had 1 shorted diode in it. The original part number is 93B5 5 which cross references to a ECG113a. I found a similar schematic to my set chassis "20B6" uses a 93B5 4, both the "4" and "5" variations both cross ref to ecg113a, the schematic shows the diodes being connected in series. while the ecg book shows the 113a module diodes being connected together with a common cathode and it has a different looking package. ecg114 looks identical in style and function as my original part number 93B5 5. I made up a fake package of 2 1n4003 diodes in series and plugged it into the socket and now i have rock steady horizontal hold. Anyone else here got sent down the wrong road by a faulty part interchange book?
