1976 Zenith H121L TV's ?

Hi, went to a local antique shop a few months ago and saw that they have two Zenith H121L TV's on display for sale.
They were asking $125 each !
They both work, but I thought the price was rediculous.
They told me that they have to sell them for that so that the shop can make money and stay open !
Well, Im interested in 1 set, but should I make an offer of say $40 for 1 ?

Here's a pic of the TV's.

Is there any way to validate their claim? Also, is other stuff there priced unusually high? If I were in such a situation and really wanted a certain set, and if it were true that the seller really needed the cash, and if I actually had that kind of cash, I wouldn't be above being particularly generous in my offer.

That price is ludicrous and that set is still fairly common. If you really want one of these, be patient and one will turn up that is much cheaper.

They kill me when they say crap like "we have to get this much so we can make money and stay open." Guess what, they won't be making any money if they sit there and no one buys them because they are ten times overpriced. If the shop overpaid for them; then, that's their problem and let it be a lesson for them in the future.

^^ EXACTLY.
Vintage sets like these arent that common here in Canada.
I was lucky to find what I have !
The good thing is that if one turns up, they are usually kept in great shape !
Canadians generally take good care of their stuff.

They are the most common 12" B&W sets of there time at
least in the US. In fact we sold them for $119.95 USD !
Still seen at flea markets etc for free or $10. I bet if you
put up a few of those free ads you will have a house load
of stuff in a short time for its real value, little or none.

They're B&W sets??!! I thought that a possibility but wasn't sure. Holy crap, that is a nasty price. That banner above them is a little misleading, yes?

I always laugh at that crap too.

I would just politely offer them what you are willing to pay. If they turn it down, just offer them a card with your name, phone number, and just say if they ever have anything in the future that they can sell cheaper to give you a call. You have nothing to loose.

They might change their mind, especially when they plan their going out of business sale.

I have one of these out in the shed. I just got it for free a few days ago. Really needs a good cleaning, the on-off/volume knob is frozen, but it's complete and hasn't been touched in over 20 years.

Their problem is not your emergency.
